It’s subtle but in the new video on Mary Kim Titla’s website she talks about her how she grew up in poverty while she stands looking at a Hogan. Either she’s trying to relate how her childhood poverty was due to growing up on the Navajo reservation or Titla’s understand so little of her own culture that she doesn’t know Apache do not live in Hogans. In either case, it’s insensitive to picture herself in front of a Hogan as a symbol for her having a deprived childhood.

Obviously, she doesn’t know the spiritual connection Hogans have for Navajo (Dine’.) Minimally, Mary Kim should learn enough about Navajo culture and religion to understand that Hogans are not symbols of poverty.

Then again, this is probably a purely self-centered attempt at trying to gain sympathy with belagaana (whites) to vote for her.

BTW, an impoverished childhood is her main argument for being qualified to represent Arizona District 1.
